Publication Ethics
Ethics Statement of the Jurnal Komunikasi & Media Digital
Based on COPE’s Best Practices Guidelines for Journal Editors, the Jurnal Komunikasi & Media Digital (JKMD) should maintain ethical standards in scholarly publishing. They cover various aspects of journal management, including editor responsibilities, peer review, and handling ethical concerns. They emphasize the importance of upholding academic integrity, ensuring fairness, and promoting transparency in the publication process.
Editorial independence
Editorial independence ensures that editors make decisions on manuscripts free from outside influence. As integrity threats grow more complex and systematic, collaboration between editors and publishers is needed, using shared resources and expertise. However, editorial independence must remain central, with transparent decision-making structures and editors ultimately accountable for journal content.
General Duties and Responsibilities of Editors:
Editors are expected to be responsible for all content published in their journals, strive to improve the journal, ensure material quality, champion freedom of expression, and maintain the academic record's integrity.
Relations with Authors:
Editors should provide a professional service to authors, handle correspondence promptly, and ensure the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
Peer Review:
Editors should ensure that peer review is conducted by qualified reviewers, and consider adopting methods best suited for their journal and research community.
Handling Ethical Concerns:
Editors should have processes in place to address ethical concerns about submitted manuscripts or published papers, including potential misconduct.
Relations with Readers:
Editors should inform readers about the funding sources and roles of funders in research, and be open to publishing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when needed.
Encouraging Academic Integrity:
Editors should ensure that published research conforms to internationally accepted ethical guidelines, and studies reporting negative results should not be excluded.
Keeping up-to-date:
Editors should stay informed about new publishing models, peer review methods, and other changing practices in the field.
